Bari 2-1 Siena

Giuseppe Greco completed a rousing second-half fightback from Bari in their Serie A clash with Siena.

It was harsh for a visiting side led for the first time by new coach Alberto Malesani, who took the lead in just the third minute through Simone Vergassola and defended their slender advantage for 75 minutes before Andrea Masiello's equaliser.

That set the scene for Greco to convert fellow replacement Filippo Antonelli's 92nd-minute cross and ensure Siena remain rooted on six points.

It had started so much better for Siena when they surprised their hosts with the first attack of the match.

Lukas Jarolim was the creator, whipping in a cross from the left and finding the onrushing Vergassola, who evaded two markers to flick the ball beyond keeper Jean-Francois Gillet.

Bari appeared shell-shocked by the goal and allowed their lowly visitors to dictate the early pace. It was almost 2-0 when a simple move offered Gael Genevier the chance to shoot from the left, but his shot from 20 yards was just too high.

Malesani's charges should have doubled their lead two minutes later when some slack defending allowed Massimo Maccarone to ease past Andrea Ranocchia and go one-on-one with Gillet.

Maccarone attempted to lob the goalkeeper but he fluffed his effort and missed the target.

The first Bari chance of note was not until the 31st minute, Barreto heading straight at Gianluca Curci from a decent position.

The same player went close four minutes later when a spectacular overhead kick was well anticipated by Curci.

Siena regained control for the final 10 minutes of the first half, with Bari allowing their opponents too much possession in key areas.

The same pattern looked like it would be repeated in the second period, with Vergassola close to grabbing his second just four minutes after the restart.

Abdelkader Ghezzal provided the pass, which Vergassola controlled before firing a low shot which just missed the near post via a slight deflection.

Bari gradually started to regain a foothold in the game, first Vladimir Koman crossing well for Riccardo Meggiorini to test Curci from close range.

Pedro Kamata created the next chance, cutting a pass back to Koman who teed up Barreto.

The latter's volleyed attempt was woefully off target and he was replaced by Greco after 78 minutes.

Seconds later Bari had the goal.

Siena half-cleared a corner to Masiello, who collected the ball and moved forward two paces before firing a shot left-footed into the corner of goal.

Greco warmed up for his last-gasp heroics with a near miss 84 minutes in and Leonardo Bonucci also attempted to put Bari ahead with a drilled effort from inside the area.

But it looked like the visitors would hang on until Antonelli broke down the right and lifted the ball in to Greco on the six-yard line.

The 26-year-old converted and, despite a further four minutes of time added on, there was no further drama.
