Lazio 0-0 Bologna

Lazio's run without a Serie A win continued as they were held to a goalless draw by Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Roman outfit, without a league victory since August 30, dominated the midfield and created the best chances with the visitors limited to counter-attacks.

However, the Biancoceleste's struggles in front of goal continued, with Davide Ballardini's men having now failed to find the back of the net for the last three games.

The visitors picked up the pace after the break but mustered little.

The draw meant Lazio remained in 15th place in the table, level on 13 points with Bologna, heading into next weekend's city derby against Roma.

The hosts started strongly and had the first chance of the match in the fifth minute.

Cristian Brocchi's cross found Tommaso Rocchi, whose right-footed strike went wide.

Shortly after, Rocchi provided the through-ball for Mauro Zarate, whose volley was cleared by Bologna goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

Lazio should have broken the deadlock in the 13th minute. Zarate burst through the visiting defence and found himself one on one with Viviano, but the goalkeeper came out forcefully and cleared the ball.

Marco Di Vaio almost opened the scoring at the other end six minutes later but saw his strike from the edge of the area swerve just to the right of Fernando Muslera's goal.

On the half-hour mark, Roberto Baronio's 30-yard free-kick went over the bar as Lazio got closer.

Muslera was called upon on the stroke of half-time, saving Adailton's curling free-kick from distance.

Lazio picked up where they left off after the restart and should have taken the lead after 53 minutes.

Pasquale Foggia got in behind from Aleksandar Kolarov's assist and his left-footed effort flew inches wide of the far post.

At the other end, Di Vaio burst into the Lazio area but his powerful right-footed blast was cleared by the Lazio defence.

The home team continued to surge forward and were almost rewarded in the 71st minute.

Kolarov's left-footed strike towards the near post forced Viviano to make a save with his foot.

Soon after, Rocchi should have done better but his powerful header from a corner went off target.

With eight minutes left to play, Osvaldo wasted a good chance to put the visitors ahead, with his left-footed attempt from inside the area going wide, much to the relief of the home fans.

Lazio should have claimed three points but failed to find the finishing touch.

With five minutes remaining, Zarate fed substitute Mourad Meghni, whose bullet strike from inside the area went wide.

There was still time for the hosts to have made amends with seconds remaining when substitute Stephan Lichtsteiner met Zarate's corner, but his header from a central position drifted over the bar as Bologna held on for a share of the spoils.
