Jay Cutler threw his fourth touchdown pass of the game nine minutes into overtime to give the Chicago Bears a dramatic 36-30 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Cutler connected with Devin Aromashodu for a 39-yard score after Nick Roach recovered a fumble by Adrian Peterson.
The Vikings' third defeat in four games prevented them securing a first-round bye and handed the New Orleans Saints home-field advantage throughout the NFC play-offs.
The Bears led 23-6 in the third quarter but Vikings quarterback Brett Favre spearheaded a fightback which culminated in a 68-yard touchdown drive capped off by Favre finding Sidney Rice with a six-yard pass.
That tied the scores at 30-30 with 16 seconds left in regulation before Chicago's Robbie Gould missed a 45-yard field goal on the first possession in overtime.
The Bears (5-10) made amends a few minutes later when Hunter Hillenmeyer knocked the ball away from Peterson and Roach recovered to set up the winning score.
