Ross Fisher pulls out of BMW International to recover from US Open effort

Ross Fisher has withdrawn from the BMW International Open in Munich starting on Thursday, saying he is too tired following his US Open exertions.

The 28 year-old Englishman finished fifth at Bethpage, three shots behind winner Lucas Glover.

He is entered for next week's French Open, but his schedule is somewhat up in the air with his wife, Joanne, expecting their first child in the middle of next month - during Open Championship week, in fact.

He has already stated that even if he was six ahead with a round to play at Turnberry, he would return home for the birth.

Northern Irish 20-year-old Rory McIlroy, 10th in the US Open, is travelling on to Munich, however, and has been made joint favourite with world No 5 Henrik Stenson, who came ninth at Bethpage.

The event also features Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, Retief Goosen, Luke Donald, Bernhard Langer and John Daly. Defending champion is German Martin Kaymer.
