Rain hits Canadian Open start

The RBC Canadian Open in Ontario got off to a stuttering start as weather conditions forced the first round to be suspended.

Rain at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville forced a prolonged delay with most of the field yet to even tee off.

Among those who did get under way was Ryder Cup star Luke Donald, who was level par after four holes. American John Merrick was the nominal leader, two under after just six.

Merrick, starting on the back nine, birdied the 13th and 15th holes.
