Laura Diaz, Morgan Pressel and Kim Song-hee claimed a one shot lead over Michelle Wie and Suzann Pettersen at Corning Classic.
After defending champion Paula Creamer withdrew with a thumb injury, Diaz, Pressel and Kim opened with rounds of seven-under-par 64 to top the leaderboard after the opening round of the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.
Diaz picked up five shots over her final seven holes including an eagle at her penultimate hole after earlier dropping only one bogey, while two-time winner Pressel finished her bogey-free effort with a final hole birdie.
Kim, chasing her first LPGA Tour victory, also finished well with back-to-back birdies after shipping a bogey at the 16th after charging up the leaderboard with seven birdies in 10 holes around the turn.
Wie has picked up three top-10 finishes in seven starts this year and made a solid start at Highland Meadows Golf Club with just one bogey against seven birdies.
Pettersen made a flying start with an ace at her second hole of the day and dropped just one shot in carding a six under 65.
Cristie Kerr, Inbee Park, Jiyai Shin, Lindsey Wright, Lee Jee-young and Minea Blomqvist sit two shots of the pace tied for sixth at five under.
