Victorino leads Phillies to win

The Philadelphia Phillies scored 10 first-inning runs en route to a 22-1 pounding of the Cincinnati Reds.

Outfielder Shane Victorino, who remains in the thick of the race for an All-Star berth, hit a two-run shot in the opening frame as he went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and five runs scored.

In all, the Phillies collected a season-high 21 hits, with Chase Utley, Greg Dobbs and Jayson Werth also hitting homers, the latter a grand slam.

Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto entered the game with a 2.69 ERA, but saw it jump to 3.45 as he gave up nine runs in only two-thirds of an inning before departing.

Aramis Ramirez was hitless in his long-awaited return for the Chicago Cubs, but Derrek Lee again came through in a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Lee's two-run homer got the Cubs on the board and Randy Wells made it stand up for his fourth win in his last four starts.

Jason Marquis tossed eight scoreless innings to outduel Washington Nationals rookie Craig Stammen as the Colorado Rockies won 1-0 in Denver.

Clint Barmes scored the only run of the game in the first inning when Todd Helton slapped a double into left centre-field.

Pablo Sandoval's first career grand slam lifted the San Francisco Giants to a 5-4 win over the Florida Marlins.

Matt Cain struck out five and walked two in giving up one run over 6 2/3 innings, but was made to sweat on the win as closer Brian Wilson allowed two runs in the ninth before finally slamming the door.

Mark Reynolds' single scored Justin Upton with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as the Arizona Diamondbacks sneaked past the San Diego Padres 6-5.

The Diamondbacks rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the bottom of the eighth to inflict a fifth defeat in six games on the struggling Padres.

Mike Hampton held the Pittsburgh Pirates to one run over seven innings to lead the Houston Astros to a 4-1 win.

Hampton's strong performance, coupled with a two-run double from Geoff Blum, helped the Astros to their fourth win in five games as they inch back towards .500 at 40-41.
