The 23-year-old, who earned a spot in the main draw after defeating American Donald Young, won in 50 minutes after serving 11 aces and taking all of three of his break point opportunities.
Australian Guccione, ranked 112 in the world, will face Mardy Fish as he seeks to reach his first ATP tour quarter-final of the season.
Another wild card, American Jesse Levine, set up a second-round confrontation with top seed and two-time Los Angeles champion Tommy Haas after easing past countryman Bobby Reynolds 6-2 6-3, while Robert Kendrick crushed Vince Spadea 6-0 6-0 in 36 minutes.
