Tottenham stormed to the top of the league but little Burnley stole their thunder after tripping Man United at Turf Moor.
HEROES
BURNLEY
The first major upset of the season and it involves Burnley. Surprised? Not really, not after Burnley earned a reputation for upsets in Cup competitions against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. Owen Coyle's side fully deserved their day in the sun and even Sir Alex Ferguson admitted it. The 1-0 win was hardly backs-against-the-wall stuff. Burnley deserved credit for trying to keep the ball and preventing the United players from getting the ball. Brian Jenson's penalty save was definitely the highlight of the win but he also made several crucial clearances. 'The Beast' also saved Robbie Blake's blushes. Blake was the Hero for scoring the winning goal - but nearly became a Zero when he conceded a penalty. Burnley were one of the favourites to be relegated. But after this display, the Clarets look like they have what it takes to survive.
TOTTENHAM
Top of the league and establishing their best start to a season in 44 seasons, Tottenham are blazing a trail of their own in the league. Last season's dismal start has been quickly replaced by a whirlwind of optimism led by Harry Redknapp's revolution at White Hart Lane. Spurs have benefited immensely after a settled pre-season - with no big names leaving the club. Straight after defeating Liverpool at the Lane, Spurs turned Hull over with a comprehensive 5-1 win. Tottenham gave a great advertisement of attacking football with Robbie Keane, Aaron Lennon, Luka Modric and the 'unplayable' Jermaine Defoe running the show at the KC. After seasons of underachieving in the league, Redknapp is turning out to be the manager who will change Tottenham's fortunes.
CHELSEA
Even after two wins in two, Chelsea's new diamond formation does not look like it's working. But I think it's the players who are making it work. The quartet of Deco, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and Michael Ballack is perhaps the strongest midfield quartet in the Premier League. Ballack finally found his shooting boots but it was Deco's goal in the 3-1 win at Sunderland that epitomised the class and team work of the Chelsea team. With Man United and Liverpool wobbling early on, Chelsea have gotten a head start in the title race.
ANDY KEOGH
The 23-year-old striker was the pride of Wolves after his winning goal game the newly-promoted side their first ever away win in the Barclays Premier League. The versatile Andy Keogh has not been too popular with some of the Wolves fans for his lack of goals but he is going to prove himself - one goal at a time.
ZEROES
MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United are just not struggling to score goals but they are also struggling to create them. Burnley's defence was there for the taking but United lacked someone who can open up defences. Ryan Giggs tried to help but he had to help out United's midfield. United's defeat wasn't all down to the midfield though. Michael Owen also missed the chances that came his way and one must wonder why he or Wayne Rooney didn't take the penalty that was awarded to Burnley in the first-half? Sir Alex Ferguson has rightly praised Burnley for their victory and has promised a response against Wigan. It looks like a minor hiccup for United with the season just two games old but Ferguson will have to rethink his strategy - post Ronaldo.
PORTSMOUTH
No points, no goals and no ideas. And the worst is not even over for Portsmouth. Paul Hart does not look like he is experienced enough to steer the ship nor is he given the transfer funds to strengthen the team. Portsmouth's fate will be clearer when the takeover deal, led by chairman Peter Storrie, becomes successful.
HULL
Hull had ended last season by earning three miserable points from the last 30 available. But Tigers only survived relegation by the skin of their teeth thanks to their excellent start. This time round, they have lost two straight games and look more like the side that ended last season than the one that started last term. Manager Phil Brown is still looking for reinforcements and has so far been rebuffed at every turn. Perhaps Brown should look lower instead of setting his targets too high..
JOLEON LESCOTT
Not the most popular figure at Goodison Park after showing his desire to leave Everton, the club which built him up, for Manchester City. What effect will he have on the rest of the Everton team built on hard work and team spirit?
