Elena Dementieva dropped the first set but fought back to claim at place in the Rogers Cup semi-finals at the expense of Sam Stosur.
Stosur went in front after taking the opener on a tie-break, however Dementieva's performance improved and the world number five levelled the match before completing a 6-7 (3/7) 6-1 6-3 victory.
There were eight breaks of serve in the opening set - four to each player - but Dementieva only relinquished serve once more in the match as she booked a showdown with either Czech player Lucie Safarova or American Serena Williams.
