J.League Sunday Review


Urawa Reds slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Shimizu S-Pulse in the J.League as Takuma Edamura scored the only goal of the game.

Edamura struck in the 71st minute when he won the ball from defender Daisuke Ichikawa before firing home.

It was the Reds' third straight defeat and leaves them in fourth place, 10 points behind league leaders Kashima Antlers.

Elsewhere, Gamba Osaka were held to a 1-1 draw by Montedio Yamagata to drop to eighth place.

Gamba took the lead in the 40th minute through Myojin Tomokazu but Montedio secured a share of the spoils with 18 minutes remaining when Yu Hasegawa fired home.

Vissel defender Hiroyuki Komoto scored as Kobe edged Kashiwa Reysol 1-0.
