K-League Sunday Review

Jeonbuk Motors lost 3-1 at Seongnam Ilhwa today and missed the chance to go above FC Seoul into first place in the K-League.

Seoul crashed to a 2-0 defeat at Suwon Bluewings 24 hours earlier but their title rivals were unable to take advantage.

A penalty in the 11th minute, converted by Brazilian midfielder Eninho, suggested that Jeonbuk were headed back to the summit, especially as Seongnam had only returned to South Korea on Thursday after elimination from the 2009 Peace Cup.

It was a different Seongnam that came out in the second half however as Dzenan Radoncic shot the hosts level just seconds after the restart.

After 64 minutes, South Korea midfielder Kim Jung-woo put Seongnam ahead and the former Nagoya Grampus star sealed the win eight minutes from the end.

"At half-time when we were a goal down I told the players that we needed to have no regrets when the game finished," Seongnam coach Shin Tae-young said.

"That is what we did and we played with belief and energy in the second half."

"It was an important game for us," said Jeonbuk coach Choi Kang-hee.

"We would have gone top if we had won this game but there are many games remaining and we have a two-week break in which to regroup."

Elsewhere, Gangwon FC came back from a goal down to defeat Incheon United 3-2 to stay in fifth place.
