Singapore Cup quarter-finals revealed

The RHB Singapore Cup quarter-final ties have been announced by the Football Association of Singapore.

The last eight matches kick off with the clash between Cambodian League Champions Phnom Penh Crown and Thai League holders Bangkok Glass, who are now coached by former Home United assistant coach Surachai Jaturapattarapong, on Wednesday, August 26 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The other quarter finals will also see 2009 League Cup Champions Brunei DPMM FC take on Thai side TTM Samut Sakhon, as the Bruneians try for a clean sweep of the three trophies available this season, while Geylang United, who knocked out defending champions SAFFC in the preliminary round, will come up against another former Singapore Cup winner, Home United in the battle of the two remaining Uniteds in the Singapore Cup.

Finally, Albirex Niigata will need to muster another giant-killing feat, after beating their mighty neighbours Gombak United during the preliminary round, to progress into the semi finals of the Singapore Cup. This time, the Japanese side are up against high flying Tampines Rovers, who are currently second in the S.League table.

The quarter finals will be played over two legs and there will be no away goals rule in this competition.

The two Friday night matches of the RHB Singapore Cup Quarter Finals, the first leg encounter between Brunei DPMM FC and TTM Samut Sakhon from the Jalan Besar Stadium on August 28 and the second leg match up between Albirex Niigata and Tampines Rovers from the Jurong East Stadium on September 4 will be shown ‘LIVE' on MediaCorp Channel 5.
