Lazio 1-2 Parma

Parma claimed their first Serie A away win of the season with a narrow triumph over 10-man Lazio in Rome.

Nicola Amoruso's penalty on the stroke of half-time proved the difference between the sides. Lazio defender Aleksandar Kolarov was adjudged to have clipped Valeri Bojinov inside the area and was given his marching orders.

The visitors had taken a 20th-minute lead through Bojinov, only for Mauro Zarate to restore parity from the spot three minutes before the break.

The hosts struggled to make an impact in the second half and Parma wasted a hatful of chances but held on for all three points.

Lazio went into the game looking to return to winning ways after a 1-1 draw at Catania had followed a 2-0 defeat against Juventus.

Davide Ballardini's men enjoyed a good start and could have broken the deadlock early on.

Julio Cruz's pass towards an unmarked Zarate cut Parma's defence wide open before the Argentinian fired a diagonal right-footed shot that went inches wide of Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante's far post.

Seconds later, Mirante did well to deny Matuzalem, whose close-range header from Roberto Baronio's cross had appeared goal-bound.

Parma had a great chance to take the lead on nine minutes.

Bojinov's close-range header from Daniele Galloppa's cross went just wide of the far post, with Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Muslera already beaten.

The visitors then silenced the majority of the fans inside the Stadio Olimpico.

Damiano Zenoni's cross from the right found Bojinov, whose powerful left-footed strike beat Muslera.

On the half-hour mark, Mirante had to come off his line to deny Stefano Mauri, who was ready to head past the keeper from Galloppa's cross.

Parma players could not believe their misfortune three minutes before the break when the referee awarded a penalty after Cruz fell inside the area. Zarate made no mistake from the spot, coolly sending Mirante the wrong way.

Lazio's joy was shortlived, however. On the stroke of half-time, the referee pointed to the spot at the other end and sent off Kolarov for a second bookable offence. Amoruso restored Parma's advantage from 12 yards.

The Ducale club were unlucky not to extend their lead early in the second half with Amoruso's left-footed strike beating Muslera but rebounding off the far post.

At the other end, substitute Pasquale Foggia tried his luck from distance but his effort went high and wide as the Biancoceleste struggled to put a good move together.

Galloppa came mighty close to making it 3-1 shortly after that but his strike from the edge of the area flew just high over the crossbar.

On the hour mark, Mirante made a crucial save with his feet from Zarate's fierce strike as Lazio pushed for a second equaliser.

Bojinov should have killed the game off with 10 minutes remaining but failed to beat Muslera when one on one, his close-range effort saved by the keeper.
