Palermo 1-1 Bari

Igor Budan's stoppage-time goal gave Palermo a deserved share of the points against Bari today.

Riccardo Allegretti had put the visitors ahead in the second minute and it looked like that would be enough to hand them their first Serie A victory before Budan pounced right at the death.

Palermo, who enjoyed a sackful of chances, were more than worthy of the point but Bari will be disappointed they did not manage to hold out for a few more moments.

It is Bari's third draw in as many games while the late goal will come of some consolation to Palermo following their defeat to Fiorentina last time out.

The match kicked off with a 20 minute delay to allow the pitch more time to dry following a morning downpour and it took Bari just 100 seconds to take the lead.

Rubinho did well to keep out Edgar Alvarez's 25-yard strike but the rebound fell to Allegretti for the simplest of tap-ins.

Palermo could have equalised in the 12th minute but Bari goalkeeper Jean Francois Gillet pulled off a wonderful save to keep out Fabrizio Miccoli's stunning effort,

They went close again three minutes later and Javier Pastore will be disappointed with himself after he headed Miccoli's cross wide of the right upright from close range under no pressure whatsoever when he should have at least tested the goalkeeper.

Bari could have doubled their lead in the 24th minute but Rubinho performed a spectacular diving save to keep out Riccardo Meggiorini's 25-yard thunderbolt.

Edison Cavani almost sent Palermo in at half-time on level terms but his long-range effort scraped the top of the crossbar.

Palermo came out after the break even more determined to find the equaliser but were guilty of missing several golden edged opportunities.

Pastore floated in a brilliant cross from the right which Gillet completely missed but Federico Balzaretti could not finish it from close range

Moments later Mattia Cassani set up Simon Kjaer only for the Denmark youngster to miss the last touch from 10 yards.

Miccoli also had a decent chance to level matters for Palermo when Pastore found him in a good position in the area, but he volleyed wide from close range.

As the game wore on it was backs to the wall time for the Bari defence as they kept at bay wave after wave of Palermo attacks.

They were almost breached three minutes from time when a stunning individual move from Miccoli saw him weave his way past two defenders but his effort flew narrowly wide of the left post.

Moments later Gillet did well to keep out Cavani's 20-yard effort.

It looked as if Palermo were to lose their first home game in nine matches following seven wins and a draw at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, but Budan rounded his defender and beat Gillet from close range to snatch a deserved point for the hosts.
