Chinese Super League Wed Review

Brazilian striker Jose Filho Duarte's last-gasp goal was not enough to secure a point for bottom side Chongqing Lifan as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Changsha Ginde in the Chinese Super League.

The visitors edged closer to relegation after losing the crucial game at Helong Stadium, which was a re-arranged clash from last month after a number of Chongqing players came down with swine flu.

Zhang Xiaobin put the hosts ahead eight minutes before the interval when he turned home Liu Jianye's cross from the right at the far post and Wang Qiang scored his side's second a minute after the hour-mark with a powerful header.

Chongqing halved the deficit four minutes before the final whistle when Jose Filho Duarte shot past goalkeeper Song Zhenyu but it was too little too late for the visitors.

"We created quite a few scoring chances today and I hope my team can shake off the gloomy sentiment in the coming games," said Chongqing's Dutch coach Arie Haan.

"We have to claim maximum points in the remaining two matches."

Chongqing remain on 28 points at the bottom of the CSL, four points adrift of Changsha - who are in 14th place.

"I need to learn a lot from Mr Haan. I respect him very much," said Changsha manager Hao Wei, who was appointed as coach after Zhu Bo was sacked last week.

"The players worked hard to claim the much-needed three points and I should also give credit to the fans."
