Gionta score twice in 500th game


Brian Gionta scored twice in his 500th career game to guide the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-3 win over the Dallas Stars.

Gionta, who scored a power-play goal in the first period, got his second of the game with a man advantage in the third.

Carey Price stopped 33 shots and Benoit Pouliot and Mike Cammalleri also scored for the Canadiens as Dallas suffered a ninth straight road loss.

Mike Modano scored his 550th goal and Toby Petersen and Steve Ott also scored for Dallas.

The Ottawa Senators ended a five-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the New York Rangers.

Mike Brodeur made 32 saves to earn his second career win just two days after distant relative Martin Brodeur had helped New Jersey beat the Rangers in a shootout at Madison Square Gardens.
