Muangthong United will face SAFFC for a place in the 2010 Asian Champions League after overcoming Da Nang at Chi Long Stadium.
Despite the hosts enjoying the majority of possession and territory in the opening half-hour, Muangthong took the lead in the 33rd minute when a deep free-kick was knocked into the area and Wongsa Panupong diverted the ball into the back of the net.
Sebastian Merlo wasted a good chance to equalise when he was denied by goalkeeper Thamsatchanan Kawin from close range before Christian extended the Thai side's advantage when he forged down the right before curling home a fine effort into the back of the net.
Tran Van Hoc collected a second yellow card four minutes into the second period and the visitors then made sure of victory nine minutes from time when substitute Kaewprom Jakkaphan fired home a rebound after Christian's shot struck the post.
Da Nang were reduced to nine men in the final minute when Rodrigo also saw red for two bookings and Muangthong now take on SAF on February 6 for a place in Group G of this season's Asian Champions League.
