Top seed Elena Dementieva had to battle back from behind to earn a semi-final place at the Open GDF Suez in Paris.
Dementieva lost the opening set to Andrea Petkovic before bouncing back to earn a 3-6 6-4 6-2 victory.
The win will see Dementieva go forward to face American teenager Melanie Oudin, who likewise came from behind to top 2008 finalist Agnes Szavay 2-6 6-4 6-2.
The other semi-final will be contested by second seed Flavia Pennetta and Lucie Safarova, who progressed earlier in the day.
Pennetta cruised past fellow Italian Tathiana Garbin 6-1 6-3 to earn the meeting with Safarova, a 6-3 6-0 victory over sixth-seed Shahar Peer.
