
Argentina's David Nalbandian continued his return to the ATP Tour with a second-round victory at the ATP Copa Telmex.
The former world number three, playing in his first tournament since undergoing hip surgery in May, battled back from a set down to overcome Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-7 (5/7) 6-4 7-6 (9/7).
Next up for Nalbandian is a last-eight meeting with fifth seed Albert Montanes, who advanced with a straightforward 6-3 6-2 win over fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar.
In other second-round action on Wednesday, Spanish qualifier Santiago Ventura upset seventh seed Victor Hanescu in straight sets.
Ventura posted a 6-4 7-6 (12/10) triumph over his Romanian opponent to set up a quarter-final clash with compatriot Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Second seed Ferrero breezed past Brazilian Marcos Daniel 6-2 6-4 in the late second-round match.
