Balestier Khalsa made a winning start to the S-League season after they downed Sengkang Punggol 2-1 at Hougang Stadium.
Rivaldo Costa was the architect of the hosts' downfall, netting the opener after 18 minutes and adding a penalty five minutes later.
Jordan Webb pulled a goal back for Sengkang just before half-time but Balestier held out in the second half to collect the points.
