The International Swimming Federation and the World Anti-Doping Agency are seeking to double the length of a ban on US swimmer Jessica Hardy for doping, world sport's top court said Friday.
Hardy withdrew from the 2008 US Olympic swimming trials after a positive drug test and was banned from competing for a year by the American Arbitration Association.
"FINA and WADA both request that the AAA award be set aside and that the CAS sanctions the athlete with a period of ineligibility of two years," said the CAS in a statement.
CAS said it would rule on the case within four months.
Hardy would technically be eligible to compete again after her current ban expires in less than 10 weeks if FINA and WADA's appeal is rejected by CAS.
