In this week's edition of Engine Block’s "Rumble Strip" we ask: Is Sebastien Loeb killing the WRC ?

It seems to happen every time a supremely talented racer enters the scene - a string of dominant wins leaves everyone reeling and after virtually demolishing the competition early on, the race for second best is the only point of interest left in the contest.

Michael Schumacher won 5 straight Formula One titles from 2000-04 notably winning 13 of 18 events and clinching the championship with still 4 races to go in 2004.

Valentino Rossi bagged 4 successive MotoGP crowns from 2002-05 clinching 11 victories in 2002 and 2005 out of 16 and 17 races, respectively.

The champions were so far out of everyone else's league that fans deemed the races predictable, boring, even unfair.

Then, there's Sebastien Loeb who burst into the World Rally scene with an ominous rumble. The Frenchman has clinched every World Rally title since 2004, posting a record 11 victories out of 15 races last year and is yet to lose this season after 5 events. Despite challenges from former champion Petter Solberg and Marcus Gronholm's successor, Mikko Hirvonen, Loeb seems to be oblivious and somehow immune to misfortunes that routinely strike his colleagues.

5 races and a perfect record thus far, makes it rather obvious that a 6^th title is in the bag unless something dramatically unfortunate happens to the Frenchman.
