England (328-7) bt West Indies (270) by 58 runs
Matt Prior's composed 87 helped England wrap up a 2-0 sweep of the West Indies, who have now lost all four completed international matches against their hosts.
Prior's innings was the centrepiece of an imposing England total, 328 for seven, which ranks as the sixth-highest in their history and their best against these opponents.
In reply, the West Indies were bowled out for 270. Any genuine chance they might have had of winning the match evaporated when two of their "Big Three" batsmen, Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan, were dismissed inside the first four overs.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who is the tourists' other banker, managed to hang around for more than two hours without ever finding his best timing. When he was finally dismissed, hoicking a catch to midwicket, Chanderpaul had eked out 68 runs from 108 balls. His scoring-rate was simply too slow to keep the West Indies in touch.
The tail may have wagged energetically, adding 81 runs for the last four wickets, but it was always an academic exercise. James Anderson (three for 58) brought the series to an emphatic conclusion by yorking Sulieman Benn.
Prior only found out that he would be England's No 3 last week, when Kevin Pietersen dropped out with a sore Achilles tendon. The decision was made by Andy Flower, the team director. And like most things Flower has done over the last month, it came off superbly.
Prior was watchful in the early part of his innings, striking only two boundaries on his way to his half-century, and concentrating on accumulation. But he cut loose during the batting PowerPlay, which England took in the 38th over, and which realised the impressive total of 55 runs.
England's innings was built around the 149-run partnership between Prior and Owais Shah, who improvised skilfully in his own innings of 75 from 65 balls. But there was also a solid start from the two openers, Andrew Strauss and Ravi Bopara, who put on 81 in 15 overs for the first wicket.
The West Indies seemed to lack focus, as they have done through most of this tour. The only bowlers who performed on the day were Jerome Taylor - who finished with three for 59 from his 10 overs - and left-arm spinner Benn.
