Bammer wins Prague Open

Austria's Sybille Bammer beat top seed Francesca Schiavone to land the Prague Open.

Bammer, who was arguably the fresher of the two after enjoying an easier win in the rain-delayed semi-finals earlier in the day, saw off the Italian 7-6 (7/4) 6-2.

Schiavone needed two hours and 30 minutes on court in the morning to overcome Timea Bacsinszky 6-2 4-6 7-5 while Bammer cruised past Iveta Benesova 6-0 7-5.

And it showed as Bammer broke twice for a 4-0 lead in the first set.

Schiavone hit back to take it to a tie-break but Bammer prevailed.

Going behind seemed to deflate the Italian and the second set was a procession.
