Ji secures dramatic win in US Open

South Korean Eun Hee Ji held her nerve to sink a dramatic 20-foot putt on the final hole and win her first major.

Ji had suffered a double-bogey at the 10th, but back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th put her back into contention before she birdied the last to seal victory.

Earlier, Candie Kung of Taiwan had vaulted up the leaderboard with a round of 69, two under par, to move level with Ji at the front.

But Ji's birdie on the 18th meant no play-off was necessary.

Overnight leader Cristie Kerr could not keep up the pace that had seen her out in front for the previous two days and she shot a final round of 75, four over par, to finish two shots behind Ji, in a tie for third place with In-Kyung Kim.
