Tamim helps set target

Tamim Iqbal led the way as Bangladesh today went about setting West Indies a challenging target to win the first Test in Kingstown.

The tourists started the fourth day 43 runs behind after surviving a tricky spell yesterday evening to reach stumps on 26 without loss in their second innings.

Tamim continued their positive approach today, moving on to 66 not out at lunch as Bangladesh cruised to 109 for one - a 40-run lead.

The only wicket to fall in the morning session was that of Imrul Kayes - who, having made 24, drove sloppily at a wide delivery from spinner Ryan Austin with the ball flying straight to Kemar Roach at cover.

The Windies' second-string attack - the first XI are sitting out this match because of a contract dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board - may have scented the chance to make further inroads. But they met with stiff resistance, from Tamim in particular.

The opener brought up his 50 in 72 balls with eight fours, highlighting his ability to punish the bad ball.

Junaid Siddique was more sedate at the other end, his 14 not out coming off 42 deliveries.
