Armstrong lands Leadville title

Lance Armstrong won the Leadville 100 in the Colorado Rockies oto end the reign of defending champion Dave Wiens.

It was the 100-mile (160km) mountain bike event which last year persuaded the seven-time Tour de France champion to return to the road after a second-placed finish.

And he proved unstoppable in the 2009 event, finishing in a record time of six hours 28 minutes 50 seconds despite riding with a flat rear tyre for the final 10 miles.

The 37-year-old, who finished third in last month's Tour de France and is launching his own road team in 2010 known as 'The Shack', was racing in the colours of his Austin, Texas, bike store, Mellow Johnny's.
