Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Dortmund

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Ioannis Amanatidis went from victim to villain to hero on an eventful afternoon against Borussia Dortmund.

Amanatidis was denied a perfectly good goal by a poor decision from the linesman in the 34th minute, and then was at fault in the second half when Dortmund took the lead through Mohamed Zidan.

But he made amends a few minutes later to ensure the points were shared in a game where chances were at a premium.

The home side enjoyed the best of the opening period and Alexander Meier set up Amanatidis after nine minutes for a powerful shot from 14 yards out, which produced a fantastic save from goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller.

Dortmund's best chance of the opening period came from a mistake by Frankfurt's Aleksander Vasoski on 17 minutes.

His back-pass was intercepted by Zidan but his right-footed shot was well saved by goalkeeper Oka Nikolov.

Frankfurt should have taken the lead on 34 minutes when Caio's pass found Amanatidis and the striker fired low into the bottom corner only to see the goal incorrectly ruled out for offside.

Amanatidis must have been thinking it was not his day when, in the 64th minute, he gave the ball away to Zidan who ran through the home defence and found the back of the net from 12 yards.

But just four minutes later Amanatidis made amends in spectacular fashion with a stinging left-footed drive from 22 yards which left the goalkeeper with no chance.
