K-League Cup: Seoul in control

FC Seoul claimed a 2-1 win against Pohang Steelers in the first leg of their K-League Cup semi-final.

The two teams will meet again on August 26 in the second leg, but a late winner from FC Seoul's Brazilian star Adilson tipped the tie in favour of the capital club.

All the goals came in the first half as Anderson put Seoul ahead after 19 minutes on a hot and humid evening at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Noh Byung-joon quickly equalised for Pohang but 11 minutes before the break Adilson struck to inflict a rare defeat on the in-form Steelers.

"The result was good for us but it was a slow game and not a great performance," said Seoul coach Senol Gunes after the match.

"Adilson's goal looked offside but Lee Sung-ryeol's strike was disallowed when it was a good goal so these things even themselves out."

In the other last-four clash, Busan I'Park came from behind to defeat Ulsan Horang-I 2-1.

Hyun Young-min put the visitors ahead after just six minutes but second-half replies from Lee Jung-ho and Jung Sung-hoon gave Busan a slender advantage going into the second leg.

"It is the first game all season in which we have come from behind to win," said Busan boss Hwang Sun-hong.

"So I am very grateful to the players. We didn't start well but recovered well."
