Mexico 2-1 United States


Mexico came from behind to beat rivals United States 2-1 in their World Cup qualifying game at Azteca on Wednesday.

Charlie Davies gave United States the lead as early as the ninth minute. It was the first time the US have taken the lead at Azteca.

Mexico then equalised when Cuauhtemoc Blano smartly found Israel Castro in space and the PUMA defender slotted home.

With just eigth minutes to go, Morelia striker Miguel Sabah took advantage of a melee in the US box to score the winning goal.

Giovani Dos Santos was on the pitch from the beginning, fulfilling that pacy attacking role that Castillo supplemented upon coming on.

"Yeah, I'm very happy with the way things went," Dos Santos said. "It's true that when you suffer more for the win, you enjoy it more."

Mexico next faces Costa Rica in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
