Felix Magath guided his new side Schalke to a 3-0 win over Bochum to move to the top of the table alongside Wolfsburg.
Christoph Moritz and Heiko Westermann scored late in the first half to give Schalke a comfortable advantage at the interval and Jefferson Farfan sealed the win in the 76th minute.
Bochum could hardly muster a single chance as Schalke dominated like they haven't done in over 18 months to deservedly take their place at the top of the table.
Despite winning 2-1 at Nurnberg last weekend, Magath was furious with his side's second half performance as they almost threw away three points.
He would have been much happier with his team today as they tore Bochum apart.
It was a surprise that it took so long for the Royal Blues to break the deadlock with Kevin Kuranyi, Farfan and Carlos Zambrano all missing chances during the first half an hour.
But their opening goal was worth waiting for as they gave an exhibition in how to start, develop and then finish a chance with the young Moritz scoring his first goal in professional football after good work by Ivan Rakitic down the left.
The next goal came from another excellent team move, this time down the left wing in first-half stoppage time.
Rakitic was involved again as he received the ball from Farfan before laying it off to Westermann, who placed his shot into the bottom right-hand corner of Philipp Heerwagen's goal.
Farfan then got the goal his performance deserved 15 minutes from time.
He exchanged passes with Kuranyi before providing an accomplished finish to seal the points for Schalke and take them level with defending champions Wolfsburg at the top of the Bundesliga after two games.
