Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that he persuaded fellow Argentina international Carlos Tevez to move to Manchester City.
City landed one of their biggest signings this offseason when they successfully sealed the transfer of Tevez from bitter rivals Manchester United.
"Carlos and I are good pals - he is a big man. I've known him a long time, and as we all know, he is a very good player, and we want his quality," Zabaleta told The Manchester Evening News.
Zabaleta will now play alongside Tevez for both club and country and the versatile defender dismisses the notion that Tevez joined the Sky Blues for the money.
"People have said Carlos just came here for the money, but I don't believe that," the former Espanyol man added.
Zabaleta cited the Citizens' other signings this offseason as proof that the Eastlands is where players want to sign at.
"It's a big project for the club. City are very different now, and Carlos is good for everybody. Players want to come here, the club is big."
"We have bought Gareth Barry and the others - they come here because they believe in the project, and that's important for this club."
