Qatar League Thursday Review

Iraq international Younis Mahmoud scored both goals as Al Gharafa fought back to beat Al Shamal 2-1 in the second round of the Qatar League.

Al Shamal took a shock lead after 27 minutes when Iraq midfielder Samer Saeed found the back of the net, but his compatriot Mahmoud levelled five minutes later before scoring the winner in the 51st minute.

Elsewhere, Asian Champions League quarter-finalists Umm Salal suffered a setback before their match against FC Seoul next Wednesday when they threw away a two-goal lead in a 3-2 defeat to Al Wakra.

Umm Salal, hammered 5-0 by Al Sadd in their first game last weekend, took the lead after 28 minutes through Brazilian striker Magno Alves.

Their other Brazilian forward Davi doubled their advantage on 54 minutes, before Al Wakra pulled a goal back 16 minutes later through Moroccan striker Youness Hawassi.

Ali Qassim equalised for Al Wakra three minutes later, before Hawassi netted the winner in the last minute.
