Dominic Hendricks hit an unbeaten century to guide South Africa to nine-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC U-19 Super League play-off.
Hendricks combined well with captain Josh Richards in their side’s reply to New Zealand’s 250.
South Africa won the toss and put New Zealand in to bat at Lincoln. The Proteas struck early and sent both the openers packing by the eighth over. Jimmy Neesham and Corey Anderson then put together a strong partnership for the third wicket, adding 119 to the Kiwis’ score. Both Anderson and Neesham contributed 64 runs each as New Zealand were bundled up for 250 runs in 49.4 overs.
South Africa reached the required target in just 48.1 overs. Richards was the only wicket to fall, making 67 runs before being caught by Logan Van Beek off Harry Boam in the 28th over. Hendricks and David White remained unbeaten on 107 and 72 respectively to see their side to an impressive victory.
