Chelsea 2 Stoke City 0

The FA Cup quarter-final game between Chelsea and Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, March 7 2010.

Chelsea progressed smoothly into the semi-finals of the FA Cup after goals from Frank Lampard and John Terry.

The holders were given a solid test by Tony Pulis's side, but their resolute defence - marshalled excellently by Terry - allowed Stoke City few clear opportunities.

Lampard drilled Chelsea into the lead shortly before the break, firing Terry's lay-off through a packed penalty area.

And the Chelsea captain completed the victory with a powerful header from Lampard's corner midway through the second half.

So Chelsea remain in contention for a treble in Carlo Ancelotti's first season in charge, and the Italian will have been particularly pleased by Terry's performance, which suggested his recent dip in form may now be over.
