Malkin on target for the Penguins

Evgeni Malkin hit the winning goal as the high-flying Pittsburgh Penguins picked up a fourth straight win, 2-1 against the Boston Bruins.

Malkin struck early in the third period to complete a turnaround after the Bruins had led.

Blake Wheeler put the visitors ahead with a power-play goal three minutes into the second period but Marc-Andre Fleury levelled, before Malkin had the final say.

Jarome Iginla's hat-trick led the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild, with Rene Bourque and Mark Giordano also on target and Guillaume Latendresse replying with two goals.

Andrew Ladd also hit a hat-trick but he finished on the beaten side as the Detroit Red Wings overcame the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4.

The Red Wings scored all their goals in the second period, through Brian Rafalski, Nicklas Lidstrom, Jason Williams, Valtteri Filppula and Pavel Datsyuk.

The Montreal Canadiens needed a shoot-out to beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3, with Tomas Plekanec hitting the crucial strike, having also scored in regulation time.

Overtime was required in New York where the Rangers lost 2-1 to the Buffalo Sabres, Patrick Kaleta netting the winner.

The in-form Carolina Hurricanes won 4-0 on the road against the Atlanta Thrashers, and the Vancouver Canucks were 4-2 winners against the Nashville Predators.

Marc Pouliot and Gilbert Brule scored as the Edmonton Oilers beat the New Jersey Devils 2-0, and the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1.
