New Zealand 1 Holland 3

Holland defeated New Zealand 3-1 for their second victory at the Hockey World Cup.

Kiwi captain Phillip Burrows stunned the Holland's defense with a goal in the first minute but the lead lasted only one minute.

Ronald Brouwer capitalized on a rebound after captain Teun de Nooijer's reverse flick was blocked by goalkeeper Kyle Pontifex.

Six minutes later, penalty corner specialist Taeke Taekema's drag flick shot the Dutch ahead. Jeroen Hertzberger made it 3-1 when he cashed in on an easy opportunity before half-time.

Also in Pool A, Germany routed Canada 6-0 for its biggest win in the field hockey World Cup in 32 years, and South Korea came from behind to beat Argentina 2-1 in the last minute.
