Belgian Jupiler League Sunday Review

Anderlecht retained their seven-point lead at the top of the Jupiler League with a routine 2-0 victory against KV Mechelen at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

After a goalless first half Guillaume Gillet gave the home side the lead in the 73rd minute, with substitute Romelu Lukaku getting the second two minutes later.

Second-placed Club Brugge came from a goal down to beat Standard Liege in today's other fixture.

The visitors took the lead at Jan Breydel Stadium through striker Dieudonne Mbokani.

But Brugge hit back as half-time substitute Wesley Sonck levelled from the spot four minutes after the break before Rostand Kouemaha struck the winner three minutes later.

An early goal by Roland Juhasz was enough to take Anderlecht eight points clear at the top of the Jupiler League following a 1-0 win over KV Kortrijk.

Juhasz struck after 11 minutes for the only goal of the game to secure Anderlecht's 12th win of the season.

It extended their lead over second-placed Club Brugge while KV Kortrijk are in eighth.

Zulte-Waregem moved up to sixth in the Belgian Jupiler League thanks to a 4-1 thrashing of Mechelen.

Steffan Ernemann scored twice for the hosts to add to goals from Ludwin Vannieuwenhuyse and Teddy Chevalier.

Aloys Nong netted Mechelen's consolation.

Nebosja Pavlovic grabbed the winner as Kortrijk beat Genk 2-1.

Jupiler League Friday Review

AA Gent rose to fifth in the Jupiler League after goals by Stef Wils and Adnan Custovic guided them to a 2-0 win at struggling Charleroi.

Wils put the visitors ahead after 10 minutes before Custovic sealed victory with a little over a quarter of an hour remaining.

It was Gent's sixth win of the season and leaves them nine points behind leaders Club Brugge, but sees Charleroi remain fifth from bottom.

Standard Liege missed the chance to close the gap on the Jupiler League leaders as they were held to a 0-0 draw by lowly Excelsior Mouscron.

The draw leaves Standard five points adrift of leaders Club Brugge, who can pull further clear when they play St Truiden tomorrow. Second-placed Anderlecht, a point behind Brugge, host Lokeren.

The point sees Excelsior move five clear of basement club Roeselare.

Club Brugge remain one point ahead of Anderlecht at the Jupiler League summit after the top two both won today.

Leaders Brugge claimed a 3-2 win at Roeselare, but were tested to the full by the league's bottom club.

Two goals in three first-half minutes from Ivan Perisic and Ronald Vargas saw the visitors in the ascendancy, but Bjarni Geir Vidarsson's penalty seven minutes into the second half pulled a goal back.

Brugge scored a third through Rostand Kouemaha after 66 minutes before Mahamadou Dissa's 84th-minute strike made for a tense finish before the visitors secured their eighth win of the campaign.

Anderlecht also have eight wins after a 2-0 triumph at KV Mechelen.

Romelu Lukaku and Mbark Boussoufa were on target for Anderlecht, who are a point behind Brugge and five points clear of third-placed Mechelen.

Genk leapt up the Jupiler League standings to ninth with a 2-0 win at Lokeren.

It took Genk until the 57th minute to grab the lead, which came thanks to a goal from Torben Joneleit. Fabien Camus added a quickfire second two minutes later.

The result leaves Lokeren in the bottom three, one point above Excelsior Mouscron who have a game in hand.
