Rebecca Adlington storms to 200m title in Scotland

Rebecca Adlington stormed her way to the 200 metres freestyle title at the British Gas Scottish National Championships.

The Mansfield-born swimmer revealed, however, that she will probably not race the event at next month's World Championships.

The 400m and 800m Olympic champion knocked nearly two seconds off her personal best to snatch the second women's 200m spot on the Great Britain team for the worlds, which begin in Rome next month.

Adlington, 20, beat Jaz Carlin by more than a second in tonight's final at Glasgow's Tollcross Park Leisure Centre, winning in one minute 57.15 seconds.

That was well inside the target time of 1min 57.58secs set by Caitlin McClatchey in finishing second at March's British Championships in Sheffield.
