Double Olympic champion Britta Steffen set a new world record in the 100metres freestyle at the German National Championships.
Steffen touched in 52.85secs in Berlin, eclipsing Libby Trickett's previous record by 0.03 which had been held by the Australian since March 2008.
The 25-year-old produced a phenomenal second length and she acknowledged the influence of her adidas Hydrofoil suit.
It makes Steffen one of only two women to have dipped under 53 seconds for the event.
