Angels ease to welcome win

Kendry Morales' two-run homer helped end a run of three straight losses as the LA Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 6-2.

In their return to action after the All-Star break, the Angels won their fourth consecutive game on the back of a strong start from Santana, who gave up one run on three hits in eight innings.

Morales put the Angels ahead with a two-run blast in the second and Chone Figgins drove in two in a four-run fourth to give Santana (2-5) all the offense he needed.

Mott Holliday homered in the ninth for Oakland.

Cliff Lee (5-9) pitched his second complete game of the season, allowing only one run as the Cleveland Indians beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1.

The left-hander allowed nine hits, including a solo Ronny Cedeno homer, as he, like Santana, snapped a personal three-game losing streak, and he was helped by some sloppy defense from Seattle, who committed four errors.
