Matsui leads Yankee rally


Hideki Matsui homered and had four RBI as the New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 10-8.

Matsui struck a three-run blast in the fourth before Derek Jeter followed with a two-run homer to give the Yankees the lead for good.

Jeter had four hits while Jorge Posada had four hits and three RBI as the Yankees won for the third straight game.

Mark Kotsay's crucial two-run hit highlighted a five-run seventh inning to guide the Boston Red Sox to an 8-4 win over the Seattle Mariners.

Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz all hit solo home runs while Jon Lester surrendered four runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Justin Morneau struck a two-run homer in a six-run fourth inning as the Minnesota Twins downed the Detroit Tigers 6-2.

Denard Span and Delmon Young drove in a run each for the Twins while Brandon Inge hit a two-run homer for the Tigers.

Vladimir Guerrero's two-run homer helped the Los Angeles Angels battle back for a 9-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles 9-6.

Bobby Abreu drove in two runs and scored three while Tori Hunter had an RBI single for the Angels.

David Murphy had three hits and an RBI as the Texas Rangers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep.

Scott Feldman allowed three hits in six innings and gave up to two runs, struck out two and walked four as the Rangers won for the fifth game in a row.

Miguel Olivio's two-run homer helped the Kansas City Royals to a 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Alberto Callaspo had an RBI while David DeJesus and Willie Bloomquist had three hits and an RBI each.

Gio Gonzalez pitched six strong innings to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Gonzalez, in his third start this season, gave up two runs and six hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
