Memorial service held for Forrest

Vernon Forrest's brother said he believed justice would be served as around 1,500 people attended the memorial service.

The 38-year-old, who became the first boxer to defeat 'Sugar' Shane Mosley, was shot and killed in Atlanta last month.

Police said he exchanged gunfire with robbery suspects before suffering several gunshots in the back, and Alfonso Forrest told mourners at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia that he was confident the killers would be punished.

"I believe in God and the justice system," he said.

"We want justice fulfilled to the fullest within the law. It will happen."

Evander Holyfield, who had known Forrest from a young age, said he should be celebrated for his work to provide homes for the mentally disabled.

"He's great and what he did for the community was great," he said.
