Claudio Pizarro scored twice as Werder Bremen thumped Borussia Monchengladbach to clinch their first victory of the new season.
Thirty-year-old former Chelsea marksman Pizarro, who joined Bremen on a permanent basis last week after spending last season on loan from Stamford Bridge, plundered both goals in the first half.
Mesut Ozil missed a second-half spot-kick but Ronaldo Naldo added a third two minutes from the end to give the scoreline a more emphatic look - well deserved by Bremen following a dominant performance.
Peru international Pizarro won the free kick which led to his first, curling home into the top right corner of the net from 25-yards out.
Bremen maintained the pressure with a header by Naldo being denied by a smart save from Gladbach goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth.
They could not be denied in the 39th minute, however, when Clemens Fritz crossed into the area where the waiting Pizarro was on hand to shoot low into the goal.
Werder should have gone further ahead from the spot 11 minutes after half-time when Tobias Levels of Gladbach brought down Ozil.
Ozil took the penalty himself but his effort was saved by Heimeroth.
The third eventually came with two minutes to go when a free kick from Ozil was nodded home by Naldo.
It was Gladbach's first defeat of the season - they share the same points tally as Bremen after one win and a draw but were well beaten.
