
A late own goal handed Cologne breathing space from the Bundesliga relegation zone as they earned an away win at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Maniche gave Cologne the lead after 59 minutes, but Chris levelled 14 minutes from time.
However, Marco Russ scored an own goal with six minutes left for Cologne to triumph.
It was Cologne's their first victory in Frankfurt since the 2000-01 season and they remained unbeaten away from home in the last eight games to move seven points clear of the drop zone.
Frankfurt had their six-match unbeaten streak broken and missed a chance to jump one spot to sixth place with 28 points.
Frankfurt had the first chance of the game in the sixth minute but Patrick Ochs' blast from 15 yards went just over the crossbar.
The hosts again were close eight minutes before the break but Russ headed just over the bar from seven yards.
Cologne goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon needed to make a superb save on Russ' header from five yards two minutes after the re-start.
And the guests grabbed the lead 12 minutes later. Sebastian Freis' fine pass found Maniche 11 yards out and the Portuguese poked the ball past Frankfurt goalkeeper Oka Nikolov as Russ was unable to clear the ball.
Frankfurt equalised with 14 minutes left after a corner from the right side.
Mondragon made a tremendous stop on Caio's header and Cologne defender Miso Brecko blocked Maik Franz's rebound shot on the line. But the visitors could not get in the way of Chris's strike off the second rebound.
But Cologne did claim victory with an own goal six minutes from time as Russ headed in Petit's free kick into the left corner.
