Marco Russ' second-half goal was enough to give Eintracht Frankfurt a hard-earned victory at home to Werder Bremen.
Russ struck the only goal of the game in the 57th minute as Frankfurt completed the double over Bremen for the first time in the Bundesliga since the 1989/90 season, having also beaten them on the opening day of the campaign.
The win extended Michael Skibbe's Frankfurt side's unbeaten run to five games and moved them to within a point of their opponents, who have now not won in five contests and are in danger of slipping out of the title race.
The first chance of the game came after 10 minutes, but Bremen's Aaron Hunt shot wide of the right post from 20 yards.
Hunt threatened again 20 minutes later, but Frankfurt keeper Oka Nikolov's quick reflexes kept his team on level terms.
The hosts took the lead 12 minutes after the break as Bremen failed to clear a Frankfurt corner.
The ball landed at the feet of Chris, whose cross somehow made its way through to Russ, who fired a shot home from eight yards via the inside of the left post.
Substitute Claudio Pizarro came close to equalising five minutes later, just seconds after coming on, but Nikolov was just quick enough out of his goal to clear the ball in front of the Peruvian.
Frankfurt went close to doubling their lead with 16 minutes left, but Selim Teber's long-range shot was deflected over the top.
The hosts again had a chance to finish the game off with eight minutes to play, but Bremen keeper Tim Wiese made a superb stop to deny Teber on the counter-attack.
Bremen pushed forward in search of an equaliser but neither Naldo or Mesut Özil were able to beat Nikolov in the final two minutes.
