
Harry Boam starred with the bat for New Zealand as they beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their ICC U19 World Cup clash.
Set a mere 196 to win after the Kiwis put Sri Lanka in to bat, Boam took it upon himself to help his side sail through.The opener remained unbeaten on a patient 85 off 151 deliveries and added 74 runs for the second wicket with Jimmy Neeshan (47) once Tom Latham perished in the second over.
Corey Anderson (26) and skipper Craig Cachopa (27 NO) contributed significantly to New Zealand’s victory.
Earlier, the Kiwis inflicted significant damage on Sri Lanka’s batsmen, with Logan van Beek and Tim Johnton picking up three wickets each.
An aggressive Danishka Gunathilleke plundered 69 off 71 balls after Rumesh Buddika (39) and Kithuruwan Vithanage (35) had done significantly to help the team to some semblance of respectability.
