Bochum 2-1 Hoffenheim

Bochum bought themselves some breathing space as Zlatko Dedic's late header earned them victory over Hoffenheim.

Having been pegged back when Vedad Ibisevic volleyed the visitors level in the 65th minute to cancel out Stanislav Sestak's first-half opener, Bochum got the winner with 14 minutes left to move six points clear of trouble.

However, it might go down as a lucky victory, with Hoffenheim shading possession in what was a close match contested largely in midfield.

They might have gone ahead in the 15th minute but Bochum goalkeeper Philipp Heerwagen did well to keep out Carlos Eduardo's shot from the edge of the area.

Nine minutes later, Bochum were ahead, with Christian Fuchs' delightful through ball finding Sestak, who poked the ball home.

Hoffenheim continued to have the edge after the break and finally got themselves level 20 minutes into the second half.

Maicosuel was given too much space on the right and he used it to whip in a cross for Ibisevic to volley home.

However, Bochum were able to respond, snatching what proved to be the winner with 14 minutes still on the clock - with Fuchs again the provider, crossing for Dedic to head home.

Hoffenheim's push for an equaliser was effectively ended four minutes from time when Luis Gustavo Diaz was shown a straight red card by referee Marco Fritz for a reckless knee-high tackle on Lewis Holtby, who was lucky to be able to continue.
