Zvonareva into Pattaya finals

Top seed Vera Zvonareva overcame a second-set slump to battle through to the Pattaya Open final.

The 25-year-old Russian, ranked 14th in the world, beat Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova 6-2 4-6 6-3.

Shvedova, the 22-year-old fourth seed, is at a career high of 48th in the WTA rankings but could not build on her success in pulling level at one set each, with Zvonareva's class telling.

In the final, Zvonareva will face Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn who delighted her home crowd with a victory over another player from Kazakhstan, Sesil Karatantcheva.

Tanasugarn, the 32-year-old world number 87, was almost totally dominant against Karatantcheva, beating the 185th-ranked 20-year-old 6-2 6-0.
